“My focus for the future is on digital transformation”
Mr. Schiller, after more than a decade at Hermes, you are facing a new challenge and handing over the leadership of Hermes International to Henning Goldmann. What developments and insights do you look back on – what has changed in logistics and supply chain management and how has Hermes International contributed to this?
Stephan Schiller: I would like to answer this question with some major headlines: The exception and the state of emergency have become the norm in recent times. The logistics business unit and supply chain management with its holistic end-to-end view of supply chains have gained relevance. Logistics is increasingly perceived as an enabler of targeted action rather than just a cost function. In this context, the following factors prove to be crucial for success: Transparency, increased collaboration within the supply chain, and in this context, data, data, data. Digitalization is also gaining momentum in the B2B context of logistics – thus, control, risk management, and efficiency can be continuously optimized. In the disruptive times of recent years, Hermes International was able to support its customers in maintaining goods flows, while simultaneously learning for the future and further developing its offerings. Thus, the digital realignment has been initiated. I am very pleased that Henning Udo Goldmann is taking over with his profound expertise and experience and will set the corresponding course for the next level.
Mr. Goldmann, you have already worked intensively with Hermes International on topics such as digitalization and collaboration. Now you want to advance these initiatives as the new CEO of Hermes International – what exactly is your focus?
Henning Udo Goldmann: Hermes International has positioned itself as a highly successful player in recent years with its products for inbound logistics and supply chain management. I would like to thank Stephan for his great work that has brought the company to where we are today. Hermes International has the potential to become the leading provider of actively managed supply chains for medium-sized businesses.
This is a highly complex field with many dynamically collaborating partners and parties, for which we want to provide ever better, especially increasingly digital solutions. My focus is on continuing and leading the transformation that began under Stephan Schiller at Hermes International. The experiences from the Corona period as well as previous developments have shown that certain products are urgently needed but have not yet been offered in the market. We want to enable our customers access to such products and services in the future.
