Rethinking Supply Chains: Results of the 23rd SupplyX-Barometer
How do supply chains really work today? The 23rd SupplyX-Barometer 2026 provides answers. We surveyed over 150 logistics managers from German companies on the topics of perspectives, challenges, and responsibilities in the supply chain. The results show: It is less about efficiency and more about resilience. This is a significant change.
The Key Insights
Digitalization has become standard
85 percent of the surveyed companies consider digital solutions necessary. At the same time, many report significant hurdles in implementation – financial resources, lack of expertise, long transition processes.
Transparency remains a problem
Only about one-third of companies have real-time visibility over their entire supply chain. This is a problem, as 68 percent of respondents indicate that the demand for information in the supply chain is noticeably increasing. The gap between what is needed and what is available is growing.
68 percent of respondents state that better data would help them respond more quickly to changes.
Trust and Data Together
Stable supplier relationships remain important (90 percent of respondents), but reality shows: Without digital collaboration and reliable data, trust alone becomes a risk.
New Risks Arise
The concerns of logistics managers have shifted: Cyberattacks (47 percent), regulatory requirements (59 percent), and skilled labor shortages (46 percent) are now central. These risks cannot be managed with traditional methods alone.
What does this mean in practice?
Companies that want to make their supply chains future-proof and that work well share some characteristics:
- They work on true end-to-end transparency instead of superficial data collection
- They do not digitalize in isolation, but together with suppliers and customers
- They understand that supply chains today are a strategic issue, not just an operational one
- They combine proven partnerships with new technology
