IoT
The “Internet of Things” (English: Internet of Things – IoT) refers to the vision of increasingly smaller computers that subtly assist people in their daily lives. Humans should not be restricted in any way, but rather accompanied and supported in their everyday activities. This can happen, for example, through wearables that are integrated into clothing to measure body functions or through the networking of physical and virtual “things.” These should work together to provide added value for the human user. An example of an IoT application in logistics is package tracking using barcodes or QR codes: The delivery service equips the shipment with a code or RFID tag, so that the current status can be tracked with each scan. The information obtained from this is then made available to the customers by the service provider via app or internet. Other examples include smartwatches, internet-enabled household appliances, or GPS tracking of car keys & co.
