Maturity Index

The Maturity Index is a multidimensional, six-stage maturity model designed to support companies in their digitalization efforts. In cooperation with research institutions and companies, the German Academy of Engineering Sciences (acatech) has developed this model, which enables companies to assess their current status on the path to becoming an agile organization and to advance the transformation towards autonomous decision-making. Especially for the logistics industry, the index can provide recommendations for further digital transformation.

To realize Company 4.0, the researchers of the academy have identified six stages that must be gradually traversed for a successful transition:

• Computerization
• Connectivity
• Visibility – What is happening?
• Transparency – Why is it happening?
• Predictive capability – What will happen?
• Adaptability – How can one react autonomously?
