Supply Chain Visibility

Supply Chain Visibility (CSV) means, freely translated, supply chain transparency and refers to the traceability of all goods and cash flows in logistics as well as the visibility of stocks and the transparency of all processes occurring in a supply chain.

To achieve a transparent supply chain, extensive cooperation between the involved trading partners is required. A common communication architecture is the basic prerequisite. Often, platform solutions such as clouds are used. In a cloud, the different IT systems of the partners can be integrated, allowing the sharing of all relevant information, in an appropriate level of detail and in real-time.

The further the transparency in the supply chain extends, meaning the closer the involved supply chain partners network with each other, the greater the efficiency. Forecasts can be made more accurately, responses to delivery difficulties or transport delays can be improved, and thus problems can be resolved more quickly. The lifecycle of a product—from raw material extraction through production to delivery to the end customer—is also precisely traceable. An advantage that should not be underestimated in terms of sustainability in the supply chain.
